beyond the seas to penal colonies in Georgia and other
Southern Colonies. Completely
lawless and commonly regarded as worthless, during the American
Revolution the services of the Southern poor whites were desired by
neither the British nor the American

Poor
whites spread western throughout the piney woods and back hills in
the lower South. History
repeated itself in the American Civil War as the Confederacy
recruited dependable Slaves to serve as Confederate Soldiers (freed
for their military services) in preference to the poor whites.
In the same manner as their ancestors were branded for their
crimes in medieval times, poor white peckerwoods and crackers seem
have souls tattooed with a
